Welcome to my studio!

Hey, I'm Makayla! I’m a visual artist based in Port Angeles, WA. I create vibrant, nature-inspired paintings and fine art prints from my backyard studio, where I’m endlessly inspired by the rugged, diverse beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

When I’m not painting, I’m usually outside—walking forest trails, noticing light shifts, or taking in the quiet beauty of the landscape. These moments always find their way into my work.

My goal is to create artwork that becomes a touch point of beauty—adding calm, color, and connection to your daily life. I believe that what we surround ourselves with shapes how we feel, and bringing the peace of nature indoors can make all the difference.

A Creative Process That’s Never Linear

I’m a planner at heart, but painting works best for me when I let go of plans. I follow sparks of inspiration and bounce between multiple canvases, letting each piece evolve naturally. My best work is often unplanned, full of spontaneity and discovery.

 

Behind the Scenes

My backyard studio is filled with natural light and music, scattered brushes, and canvases in every corner. Some days are peaceful and quiet; other days are joyfully messy. It’s never perfect, always evolving, and always filled with gratitude. This is the best job in the world!
